Live auctions are SO fun. I’d never been to one, but Couture for a Cause couldn’t have been a better way to start! Not only was it a beautiful event, but it combined two of the things I love the most: philanthropy and fashion.
This annual fundraiser for Activate Good is a fashion show that pairs local designers with local charities and non-profits. Each designer creates two looks inspired by the mission statements, one that is “ready-to-wear” and one that is “art-to-wear”. The lovely models walk the runway and then each look is auctioned off to the crowd, with the profits going to support volunteerism in the Triangle. Tim Gunn, you’re totally invited to jump on board next year. Love you.
There is also a great Silent Auction that has items ranging from wine tastings through Wines for Humanity to gift certificates to local boutiques like The Clothes Hound.
Ok here are some of the looks! [P.S. I took a bunch of my own pictures, but these were just so lovely, I wanted to share them instead. Enjoy!] Below are the winning looks from both ready and art to wear, a view of the event and the auction.
And below, some of my favorite looks. I bid quite a bit on the Green Chair Project look – the cape and shorts – and it was SO EXHILARATING! OH man, having the auctioneer rattling off bids and pointing at you to keep going higher and higher. Whew, so fun.
Keep an eye out for this event next year – it was fabulous and inspired by such a wonderful cause, so it is NOT to be missed!
Wish I could have been there! It looks like so much fun.
Oh my goodness – how beautiful!!!! I would love to go to one of these with you!! I love that is was for a good cause. Looks like so much fun. Did you buy anything?! 🙂
