Happy Thursday! It’s PSA time and this week we’re discussing my fears for the current Tween generation. Exhibit A: Tween Role Models.
Tween Role Model of 2000: Hilary Duff as Lizzie McGuire
THEN
NOW
VS.
Tween Role Model of 2010: Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana
THEN
NOW
The pictures pretty much sum up what I wanted to say. They both got their start on Disney, but fast forward 10 years and what do we have? Hilary Duff, seemingly happily married with a little kiddo on the way. Miley Cyrus, disaster.
I will make one caveat, though. Things haven’t been all smooth sailing for Ms. Duff all these years, and I recognize that. There was the unfortunate incident with the teeth, and the (unintentional) made for TV movies she starred in with her sister.
Regardless… Hilary Duff has comparatively been a beacon of light next to Miley Cyrus’ decidedly dark adventures into the Hollywood hood. To Miley’s credit, Party in the USA is a delight. I would have advised stopping while ahead, buuuut nobody asked me.
That’s all for this week. Tweens, guard your eyes and throw on some Disney classics before you turn into baby Jersey Shore cast members!
Omg so true! I love this, Elisabeth 🙂 I’m enjoying catching up on your blog!!
Haha, it’s a sad world for tweens 🙂 So glad you’re enjoying it!
