30 Blog Challenge – Day 1 & Workout Recap

Day1: What food item/meal could you eat everyday for the rest of your life?

This is one of those questions that reminds me of the “If you had a genie and you could only make one wish, what would you wish for?” game I played when I was little. And like most clever children, I always cheated and said “I’d wish for infinity wishes!”

Only this time, I can’t think of a way to cheat and bypass the choice. Except maybe choosing “Lunch” – the meal I’d eat everyday for the rest of my life is Lunch.

Ok enough cheating. I’ll have to say it is a tie between: Blueberries and Peanut Butter.

But not together.

If I were to pick a favorite go-to meal, though, I’d say that I’d be inclined to go with one of these long-standing favorites:

1. Turkey Sandwich from Henri’s Bakery in Atlanta. You can’t beat it. Trust me, one you’ve had one, you’ll understand.

2. Goat Cheese and Orange Salad with Chicken from Sitti in Raleigh. Light and citrusy, with the perfect amount of sweetness in the dates and savory flavors in the chicken and goat cheese. Ahem, excuse me, I didn’t mean to drool.

3. Chicken and Vegetable Kabobs prepared by my Mama, grilled by my Padre. Nothing is better. I request this meal everytime I am back home… and I get a little sad everytime I remember that I don’t have a grill here in Raleigh. Boo apartment buildings.

Your turn, what would you eat forever if you had to choose? And no wishing for more wishes!

In other news, last night I went on a run. It was 8pm, so I was thinking it would be cooling off with the sun setting, but holy fiery inferno was I wrong. I pretty much sweat out all the water in my body. In fact, I’m STILL thirsty.

I did 2.5 miles, got a killer cramp around mile 1 and had to walk for about .5 miles, but my overall pace was still 10:33 min per mile, so when I was running, I must have been going faster than usual! When I got back to the apartment I did Jillian Michaels 30-day Shred as well. Who knew that a 20 minute circuit could be so intense?

    1. YUM! What is your favorite sushi place in Raleigh? I found great Mexican, but am still on the lookout for a great sushi spot. I welcome recommendations!

      1. We just went to Shaba Shabu recently- HUGE portions for a very decent price. It’s in the shopping center with Trader Joe’s. Where is the good Mexican?!

        1. Yum! I’ll have to try it 🙂

Cantina South on Glenwood – they make the guacamole at your table and it is delicious! I also love Dos Taquitos downtown, it’s a little different than typical Mexican. El Rodeo downtown is yummy also… and it’s good for the greasy, more standard stuff you’d expect from a Mexican place.

    1. What a hilarious response! Jelly. Haha I love it, specifically because you picked it for ease of consumption. Too funny. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  1. Salmon! I could eat it everyday, all day, forever and ever. Or Blue Bell Ice Cream, but i’m pretty sure that would be a poor choice.

    1. Ice cream was a very very close third place. I love it – in all forms, flavors and variations. Now, if someone could invent calorie-free, sugar-free and fat-free ice cream that tastes just like Blue Bell, I’d be in heaven.

  2. I’d have to also vote for a sandwich, because without variety, anything could get gross. Also it has its limitations so it wouldn’t be cheating like saying I want a “buffet at the Shangri-La”. But the top of my list would be an avocado sandwich with a little strong cheese and a big pile of sprouts… oh, and some olives too.

    1. You had me at avocado – so delicious! I think I probably ate more than one avocado’s worth of guacamole this weekend on Cinco de Mayo, haha.

  3. Grilled chicken w/ lemon pepper seasoning… didn’t even have to think about it. If forced to add something else, it would be broccoli with lemon pepper seasoning on it. Does that mean my real answer is lemon pepper seasoning? Maybe…

    1. Lane, you should try southern Vietnamese food. Lots of fresh black pepper and citrus flavors.

    2. You and your lemon pepper seasoning are so healthy! That does make me wonder what the limitations are as far as seasonings go… “Chicken” would be the obvious answer if you had unlimited access to supplemental flavors. Gosh, whoever wrote this question sure didn’t think through all the loopholes. Cheating is easier than I thought 🙂 haha
